Sushi in Tokyo

The top 3 most famous nigiri restaurants:

Sushi Jiro, Sushisho, Sushi Saito

While Jiro had his own feature film Jiro Dream of Sushi, Sushisho and Sushi Saito chefs were both interviewed in the documentary Tsukiji Wonderland. Perhaps Tsukiji market is exactly the reason for the fame of sushi craft in Tokyo. After all, the body of nigri is the rice and  the soul is the fish.

All the three restaurants accept bookings one month in advance, and via hotel concierge only. Even with a hefty price tag of $300 USD+, they are well known for being difficult to get in. As expected, we could not secure a table even thought we made the request to our hotel 6 week in advance.

To compensate for our disappointment, our hotel made the following recommendations:

1. Akasaka Sushi Hashiguchi

2. Kioicho Sushi Mitani
3. Sushisho Saito
4. Dai San Harumi Sushi
I decided on Sushi Hashiguchi after reading this blog post.
